Lake Michigan Beaches in the Silver Lake Area
The Silver Lake Sand Dunes Area is blessed with several miles of pristine Lake Michigan shoreline, perfect for sunning and swimming, boating and fishing, and much more!
Be sure to check out all of our amazing area beaches:
Little Sable Point Lighthouse Beach
Located one-half mile south of Golden Township Park at Lake Michigan.
Walk from a large parking lot on a concrete walkway up to Little Sable Point Lighthouse, a beautiful red brick lighthouse built in the late 1870s. Tours of this lighthouse are available daily.
From the lighthouse, it’s just a short walk down to our most spectacular expansive beach along Lake Michigan — perfect for watching a sunset! A Michigan Passport pass is required to enter the park. Restroom facilities are available on-site.
Golden Township Park at Lake Michigan
Located off Silver Lake Road, one-quarter mile north of the Lighthouse.
The warm water from Silver Lake satisfies younger swimmers at this beach while the Big Lake attracts the older, more adventurous folks. Beach walkers will also like the easy access to Little Sable Pt. Lighthouse, just a short walk down the beach.
Silver Lake Sand Dunes ORV Beach
Located 45-minutes away (walking) from Silver Lake or a short drive with an ORV over the Dunes.
Main access to this hidden beach is from the ORV dune entrance area off 24th Avenue at Silver Lake. Bring your own dune vehicle or rent one to help get you to this hidden gem.
3-acre county beach located on B-15 along the shores of Lake Michigan between Silver Lake and Pentwater.
This park provides swimming, a picnic area, and restrooms. Multi-tiered wooden steps lead visitors from the high bank bluff above, through the forest canopy, to the beach below. If you are looking for a more secluded and intimate beach location, Cedar Point is ideal.
State Park Campground
Located on Silver Lake Road.
Enjoy a sandy beach and swim area on Silver Lake, plus a spectacular view of the Silver Lake Sand Dunes! State Park facilities also include picnic tables, a pavilion, and restrooms. A day pass is needed to use this beach area and can be purchased at the campground registration booth. A public boat launch is also available on-site.
Dune Beach on Silver Lake
To access this beach, park in the pedestrian area parking lot (Michigan Passport Pass required) and walk back out of the entrance. Climb over the dune before you, and you’ll have access to the beach on the west side of Silver Lake. The other option is to boat across Silver Lake and moor on the beach to enjoy the Dunes.
