The William Field Memorial Hart-Montague Rail Trail State Park is a 22-mile, four-season wonderland of natural beauty.  It begins in Hart to the north and ends in Montague in Muskegon County to the south with access points in Mears, Shelby and New Era.   The paved trail passes through farmland and orchards, over rivers and even through part of the Manistee National Forest.  Scenic overlooks and picnic areas with restroom facilities offer panoramic views and you can also stop for a bite to eat or an ice cream cone at restaurants and continue on your way. You can bike (rentals available in Hart, Mears & Silver Lake), rollerblade or hike this scenic trail in spring, summer and fall, then snowmobile, snowshoe, fat bike or cross-country ski in winter.  The area is designated watchable wildlife and is wheelchair accessible.
