6th Annual “RIDE UNITED” -- JUNE 16
MUSKEGON, MICHIGAN: United Way of the Lakeshore’s sixth annual Ride United bike event will take place
June 16, 2018. DTE Energy is the original sponsor. It first brought the event to the lakeshore in 2012 to
promote and support United Way’s health programs. This year, riders will bike 6, 25, 50, and 100 mile routes
that begin and end at the corner of Third and Clay in downtown Muskegon which is also the site of the annual
Taste of Muskegon event. Century riders will head off at 8am to bike a scenic route that includes lakeshore
roads and portions of the Hart-Montague Bike Trail to Golden Park in Silver Lake before heading back to
downtown Muskegon. The 25 mile route will take riders to Pioneer Park in North Muskegon, with 50 mile riders
continuing on to the White Lake Chamber of Commerce depot.
WHO: Hundreds of riders from across Michigan and beyond.
WHEN: June 16 - Saturday
8:00 a.m. – 100 mile riders or “Century Riders” take off
9:00 a.m. – 6, 25, and 50 mile riders take off

Cost is $35 -- wicking shirt, or $75 -- rider jersey; registrants also receive 10 “Taste of
Muskegon” tickets to sample the food & refreshments after their ride.

WHY: Proceeds from the event will benefit programs that promote health, education and financial stability for
individuals and families in Muskegon, Newaygo, and Oceana Counties. Additional pledge dollars raised by
riders will be used to improve economic mobility in our community by helping struggling working families to
succeed. Funds used in the past provided bikes to lower income adults and youth to get to work and school,
smoking sensation and prevention classes, promotion of healthy, active lifestyles and assisting low income
