Silver Lake State Park
The famous Silver Lake Sand Dunes, four miles of sandy Lake Michigan shoreline complete with Lighthouse, access to Silver Lake plus a mature hardwood forest are all part of Silver Lake State Park and yours to enjoy. The nearly 3,000-acre park includes a modern campground with 450 campsites and views of Silver Lake and the Dunes.
The Dunes are the only ones in Michigan allowing vehicle access and are the most popular part of the park. They are open every day from April 1 to October 31. You can hike to the top, ride your own ORV, rent one or ride along with a tour company. The Michigan DNR operates the 450-acre ORV area for self-driven vehicles at the north end of the Dunes, and we recommend that you review the State Park Rules, operations changes and voucher system found on our ORV page.
A day pass is needed to use the park beach area and can be purchased at the campground registration booth. The 690-acre Silver Lake is perfect for jet skis, stand up paddleboards, swimming, building castles in the sand, and all the activities you dream about for your vacation. The park offers modern rest rooms, picnic facilities and shelters.
